Our topic for the the last few videos has been the ways that God speaks to us. Perhaps, one of the interesting is through angelic visitation. The bible accounts for many times in which God sent an angel to speak to his followers. From Mary, the mother of Jesus, to Lot and his family. God often used angels in the Bible to send messages and warnings.

I want to focus on one specific instance of angelic visitation, with Abraham about to sacrifice his son.

“When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood. 10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, “Abraham! Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. 12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” 13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”

Genesis 22:9-13

In my own life, I can not for sure say that I have been visited by an angel. But there are 2 specific times where I believe its possible that an angel visited me. One such instance was after a suicide attempt. I was lying in the hospital, angry that I had survived.

A chaplain came into my room, and offered me a bible. I was angry and cursed him out. But he left his Bible, which a year later I would open to found the number for a Christian recovery program where my life turned around.
I don’t know if he was angel, but I often wonder if that was God’s ram in the bush for me. The Lord provided for me in my time of need.

I pray that you will see God providing for you. That he is sending a ram in the bush to help you find a way of escape. Whether or not he sends an angel to to visit you, he is still there. He might send just a normal human, but he will send his messenger.
